Membership

1.    Eligibility of Membership

  • Any person possessing major postgraduate medical qualification in the field of Orthopedics and Traumatology registerable with the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC).
  • Pakistani national possessing foreign qualifications which are not yet register-able with the Pakistan Medical Council are eligible to become members on their qualification being approved by the General Body of PAKISTAN ARTHROSCOPY & SPORTS SURGERY SOCIETY.
  • Admission shall be subject to the rules and regulations of the society and the mode and conditions of election to membership shall be determined in accordance with the prescribed bye-laws.

2. Eligibility of becoming a Full Member

  • A member has to be an Associate Member for a period of at least 3 years without any gap with dues fully paid and no outstanding against the member.
  • A yearly meeting will be conducted to shortlist the eligible members to convert them to Full members based upon the following criteria
  • Good professional standing
  • Academic Contribution to the Forum and frequent participation in its activities
  • Clinical experience in the field of Arthroscopy
  • Up to date PM&DC registration

Classification of Members 

3.    Ordinary Members

Persons possessing qualifications mentioned in the Eligibility section above have been duly enrolled. 

4.    Lifemembers

Any ordinary member or any other person eligible for ordinary membership pays a lump sum of RS.15000 as a life membership fee or any other amount fixed by the Society. 

5.    Affiliated Members 

Any person already enrolled as a member of the affiliated Society of PASSS in any other country takes up residence in Pakistan. Meanwhile, have the membership card of his original branch, become an affiliated member and enjoy all the privileges of ordinary members except the right to vote. If any affiliated member continues his residence in Pakistan into the next financial year, he must become an ordinary member in the prescribed manner, failing will cancel his affiliated membership. 

6.    Honorary Members 

They are individuals of high scientific or literary attainments or the person who has rendered conspicuous service to science or medicine. It also includes those who rendered services to humanity. In addition, those individuals whose contributions to the Society are noteworthy can also be elected as honorary members according to the rules and by-laws. 

Members elected shall enjoy privileges which may, with time, be conferred on them by or under the bye-laws, except the right to vote. 

7.    Fellows 

They are individuals with the highest level of professional achievements, integrity, and professional reputation.

8.    Emeritus Fellows 

It may be conferred to Orthopaedic surgeons who have completed 25 years of active practice in orthopaedic surgery or have retired from service, or have reached 60 years. Fellows would have contributed highly to the objectives of PASSS (in the opinion of the Executive Board) as a member for more than ten years. 

9.    Applicants Members

The requirement for applicant members would be the same as ordinary members

10.    Associate Members 

Orthopaedic surgeons possessing postgraduate qualification registered with PMC but less than mentioned in the Eligibility section may become associate members approved by the Executive Board. The associate members shall enjoy all the privileges of ordinary members except the right to vote. 

11.    Student members 

They are medical graduates in the Orthopaedic training program. The student members shall enjoy all the privileges of an ordinary member except the right to vote.
